HSE Policy

OML Africa Logistics is committed to conducting its business and operations in an effective way that promotes the Health and Safety of its employees, clients, sub-contractors and the Public, and is also environmentally responsible. The Management team is committed to providing appropriate resources to create an effective team-based approach for the management of Health and Safety risks. The company’s approach to Health, Safety and Environment performance and service delivery is premised on the beliefs that:

  • Nothing is more important than protecting human health and safety
  • All incidents/accidents can be prevented
  • Working safely and in an environmentally responsible manner are conditions of employment
  • Preventing incidents/accidents and managing environmental impacts are fundamental to good business

Driving Policy

OML Africa Logistics Limited (OML) is an indigenous logistics solutions provider in Oil & Gas, Corporate Logistics, Energy & Power Generation, Mining and Large Infrastructure sectors. OML HSE commitment is simply stated: “Our Workers and Contractors will leave work the way they arrived”. Driving plays a key role in OML operations and the organization focus is to work towards Zero Motor Vehicle Incidents (MVIs). Vehicle accidents are the greatest threats and risks to achieving this goal. OML Driving Policy applies to all OML employees and contractors while driving or riding any vehicle, owned, leased, or hired by OML. The policy incudes but is not limited to trucks, cars, off-road vehicles, and all other vehicles used for OML business. The company’s approach to safe and responsible driving encompasses:

  • Vehicle’s Seat Belts must be worn by all OML employees and contractors driving or riding in a vehicle on OML business. Further, all OML personnel and their families are advised to belt up when using non-work-related vehicles for their own personal
  • Use of mobile phones while driving is strongly prohibited as this contributes to distractions which significantly increase the risk of motor vehicle incidents. OML has adopted the engine-on, phone off / muted safe driving culture.
  • The use of alcohol, drugs or any other substance that can impair the ability to drive is strictly prohibited when driving at OML. Drivers on medication that causes drowsiness shall not be allowed to drive until they are declared fit by the attending doctor / physician.
  • The company shall undertake random alcohol testing for OML personnel to ensure they are not intoxicated while driving or operating machineries /
  • The number of passengers in the vehicle shall not exceed manufacturer’s specification for the vehicle and all the applicable government guidelines and protocols.
  • All OML journeys must be assessed for any risk and Journey Plan & Risk Assessments done prior to commencing the journey.
  • All the vehicles used for OML journeys must be fit for purpose and maintained in accordance with the manufacture’s specification.
  • The applicable speed limits in the yard, public roads, off-roads, highways must be strictly followed by the drivers. The set speed limits for the black spots and geo-fenced areas assessed and found to expose drivers and assets to high risk must be adhered to. Speed limit within the site / yard has been restricted to 10KPH.
  • Drivers must possess valid driving licences issued by relevant government authority and as well pass fitness to drive test & defensive driver training course from an accredited training. Non-compliance to the OML driving policy shall be subjected to an applicable consequence management action.
