Human Capacity Development

At OML Africa Logistics, our competitive advantage is built on people who are trained, certified and empowered to deliver at the highest standard.

As a 100% Kenyan-owned logistics company, we are committed to developing the people and capabilities that support safe, reliable and efficient logistics across the oil and gas, energy, renewable energy, mining, infrastructure and corporate sectors.

We invest in structured training and personnel development across operational and support functions, working to close skills gaps and build the technical, safety and professional capabilities required in demanding logistics environments.

Training and Professional Development

Our workforce development programmes cover key operational and professional competencies, including:

  • HGV and light vehicle driving
  • Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
  • Defensive driving
  • First Aid and Firefighting
  • Equipment integrity
  • Crane, forklift and telehandler operations
  • Rigging and slinging
  • Quality management systems
  • Logistics and operational support
  • Cross-functional skills development
  • Leadership and career development

Training is supported by recognised industry standards and certification requirements. OML’s drivers are trained to IOGP 365 standards and Kenyan regulations, with selected drivers holding ADR Dangerous Goods certification. Equipment-related competencies include crane operation, forklift and telehandler operation, rigging and slinging, aligned with UK LOLER 98 and international standards.

Developing Competence, Not Just Completing Training

OML’s approach to human capacity development goes beyond providing training.

Our internal training matrix maps skills and learning pathways for different roles, from entry-level positions through to leadership. Cross-training also develops a multi-skilled workforce with cross-functional capabilities, allowing personnel to adapt to changing operational requirements and project transitions.

Training is therefore connected to role requirements, competence, certification and continuous improvement.

This approach helps ensure that our people have the knowledge and practical capabilities required to perform their responsibilities safely, effectively and consistently.

People, Safety and Operational Excellence

Human capacity development is closely connected to OML’s safety and quality systems.

Our safety culture requires people to have the right information, training and support to work safely, while our ISO 9001:2015-aligned quality management system supports continual improvement across operational processes.
We also continue to reinvest in staff training alongside fleet and technology improvements, strengthening the capabilities needed to maintain high operational standards as our business grows.

Growing Capability for the Future

For OML, developing people is a continuous process.

We create structured pathways for employees to build technical expertise, broaden their capabilities and progress through the organisation. Our commitment to employees is also reflected in our quality policy, which calls for fair employment conditions and a working environment that promotes growth, dignity and well-being.

Through this approach, OML continues to build the human capability required to deliver increasingly complex logistics projects while contributing to the development of a skilled and resilient workforce.

Our people move the work forward. Developing their capability strengthens everything we deliver.
