At OML, safety has always been our heartbeat. It’s the lens through which we approach every journey, every project, every decision. But this September -Suicide Prevention Month- we are reminded that safety is more than hard hats, reflective jackets, or on-time deliveries. It is also the courage to pause, to check in, and to recognize that the heaviest loads we carry are not always strapped onto trucks; they’re often carried in silence, within us.
We believe a company is more than a workplace. It should feel like a second home. A place where your wellbeing is respected, where your voice is heard, and where your struggles are not hidden behind the roar of engines or the urgency of deadlines. Psychological safety isn’t just an HR policy at OML, it is part of how we live our core values: Safety, Integrity, and Respect.
When we say “safety,” we mean every dimension of it. Yes, the physical safety that ensures you return home after a long shift. But also the emotional safety that lets you admit, “Today I’m not okay.” The psychological safety that assures you won’t be judged if you need help. And the human safety that comes from knowing your wellbeing is not secondary to targets, profits, or timelines.
This month, we are taking time to reflect on how we can strengthen that culture of care even further. From leadership all the way to the yard and the road, we are asking ourselves: How can OML be more than an employer? How can we be a true home for the people who give us their best every day?
We are exploring new initiatives, like safe spaces for open conversations, simple check-in points for mental wellbeing, and creative ways for our people to uplift one another in moments of struggle. Because at OML, you don’t drive alone – on the road or in life.
To our employees, our drivers, our mechanics, our support teams: you are the reason we exist. To our wider community, our partners, and every person who interacts with us: we see you. We stand with you. And we want you to know that asking for help is not weakness, it is a form of strength.
As we mark Suicide Prevention Month, we challenge ourselves and our industry peers: let us make safety mean more. Let us make respect a lived experience, not just a word on the wall. Let us make integrity visible in how we care for people, not only in how we deliver on contracts. If you are struggling, please know that your life matters; your story matters. You are not a statistic. You are part of our family, and families look out for each other. At OML, we are committed to building a culture where it’s okay to check in, okay to pause, and okay to simply say, “I need someone beside me on this journey.” Because real safety is not just about preventing accidents on the road. It’s about ensuring every single one of us arrives home safely- in spirit, in mind, and in heart.
